Miles family grave (Frank Miles memorial)
Frank Miles was a third class passenger who joined the Titanic at Southampton. He lost his life in the disaster. The body of Frank Miles, if recovered, was not identified. Although his body was not recovered Frank is remembered on his family grave in Charlton Cemetery. His name is inscribed beneath that of his father, who died in 1924.
However, the style of the headstone and material looks much later than 1924. It is more likely that the headstone was installed on the death of Frank's older sister, Ellen, who died in 1971.
In loving memory of Richard Miles, who died 9th February 1924, aged 70. Also of Frank, youngest son of the above drowned on the "Titanic", 15th April 1912, aged 23. "Grant them o'Lord eternal rest". Also Ellen Saunders, daughter of Richard, 1896 - 1971.
